Director of Development (Full Time, Exempt) 
Hybrid (Connecticut-based preferred)

CT Students for a Dream (C4D) is a youth-led organization dedicated to supporting undocumented youth and fighting for immigrant rights in Connecticut. Our work focuses on leadership development, community organizing, and advocacy to create a more just and inclusive society.

 

Position Overview

CT Students for a Dream seeks a passionate and experienced Director of Development to lead and expand the organization’s fundraising efforts. This person will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive fundraising strategy, cultivating relationships with donors and funders, and ensuring the financial sustainability of C4D. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, relationship-driven leader with a strong track record in nonprofit fundraising and a commitment to social justice. This role works closely with the Executive Director to align fundraising strategies with organizational priorities and advance the mission of C4D.

Key Responsibilities

​

Fundraising Strategy & Implementation:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising plan to grow C4D’s revenue from individual donors, foundations, corporate sponsors, and government grants.

  • Set and achieve annual fundraising goals in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board.

  • Identify and implement innovative fundraising opportunities, including digital campaigns and donor events

Grant Writing & Institutional Giving:

  • Research, write, and manage grant proposals and reports to foundation, corporate, and government funders.

  • Maintain relationships with funders, ensuring timely communication, reporting, and compliance.

  • Track grant deadlines and manage a grant calendar.

Individual & Major Donor Development:

  • Cultivate, steward, and expand C4D’s individual donor base, including small-dollar, mid-level, and major donors.

  • Develop donor engagement strategies, including personalized outreach, donor appreciation, and impact storytelling.

  • Plan and execute fundraising campaigns, including annual giving and peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives.

 

Corporate & Event Fundraising:

  • Identify and secure corporate sponsorships and partnerships.

  • Plan and execute fundraising events, including an annual gala, donor appreciation events, and community fundraisers.

  • Oversee event logistics, including budgeting, promotion, and donor engagement strategies.

 

Communications & Development Operations:

  • Work with the communications team to create compelling donor materials, including newsletters, appeal letters, and social media content.

  • Maintain accurate donor records and track fundraising metrics using a CRM or donor management system.

  • Prepare reports for the Executive Director and Board on fundraising progress and projections.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of fundraising experience in a nonprofit setting, with a proven track record in grant writing, donor cultivation, and event planning.

  • Strong commitment to immigrant justice, racial justice, and youth leadership.

  • Experience developing and implementing successful fundraising strategies.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tell compelling stories that inspire giving.

  • Experience managing donor databases and using fundraising technology.

  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships with diverse stakeholders.

  • Experience working with immigrant communities or youth-led organizations is a plus.

 

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $80,000 - $90,000 (commensurate with experience)

  • Flexible, hybrid work environment (Connecticut-based preferred).

    • Annual paid summer organizational closure for 1 week during late June

    • Annual paid Winter / Holiday closure for the last 2 weeks of December
