Building Unafraid Schools & Communities

Monday, May 20th, 2019

8:00am - 4:00pm

Southern Connecticut State University

501 Crescent St. New Haven, CT 06515

Who Should Attend: You! Our educators' conference brings together teachers, counselors, college staff, community groups to learn how to best support and advocate with undocumented students. Staff of all levels and positions are encouraged to attend. Whether you have been to a conference before or this is your first one, there will be information that is valuable to you and your role!

Our Theme: Our theme this year is Building Unafraid Schools & Communities, which exemplifies the need for undocumented students, families, and educators work together to build schools and organizations where students feel welcomed, supported, and empowered. Our conference will focus on concrete next steps you can take to build unafraid schools.

At the conference this year educators can expect to get information about:

  • Our Institutional Aid victory, what it is, what it means, and how students can access the money they are entitled to

  • Tools and resources that educators can use in their classroom, in their office, and in their school to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for students

  • What C4D is fighting for to allow immigrant youth to #liveunafraid including affordable healthcare, an end to detention and deportations, etc… and how educators can engage in these advocacy efforts
